Monolith Connect vs 8x8

Monolith Connect vs 8x8

8x8 is a mature enterprise UCaaS and CCaaS platform with one of the strongest global PSTN footprints in the market — local presence in 100+ countries across 35 regions, a platform-wide 99.999% financially-backed SLA covering both UC and Contact Center, and unlimited international calling bundles to 14 or 48 countries depending on plan. For an enterprise with significant international voice traffic, 8x8 is a credible choice. The catches for trades businesses are meaningful: no public pricing (quote-only), no native ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro integration, SMS is usage-billed with a tiny 50-message-per-license pooled allowance, toll-free numbers are always paid add-ons, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger live in 8x8 Engage or X7+ Contact Center (a major price jump), and there is no AI receptionist that books jobs into a dispatch board. Monolith Connect is built for trades from day one with native CRM integration, AI receptionist that books into the dispatch board, transparent pricing, and channels customers actually message you on.

Where 8x8 wins

Best-in-class global PSTN coverage

Local numbers in 100+ countries, infrastructure in 35 regions, and unlimited international calling bundled into X2 (14 countries) and X4 (48 countries). For an enterprise with international call volume or global offices, 8x8 covers ground that purpose-built tools do not.

99.999% SLA across both UCaaS and CCaaS

8x8 was the first platform to commit to a 99.999% financially-backed SLA covering both uptime and call quality across both UC and Contact Center together. For an enterprise where dropped calls are a real cost, that combined commitment is genuinely strong.

Mature contact center capabilities

If you also need a real omnichannel contact center — skill-based routing, agent quality monitoring, speech analytics, omnichannel digital queues — 8x8 X6 through X8 is a mature CCaaS, not an afterthought. Bundled XCaaS pricing keeps it under one platform.

Video meetings and team chat included

8x8 Meet supports up to 500 participants on X2+, and 8x8 Team Chat covers internal messaging across desktop and mobile. Monolith Connect does not include video conferencing or team chat.

Mature CRM integration ecosystem

Native deep integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Microsoft Dynamics, Zendesk, NetSuite, and others. If your business already runs on one of those CRMs, 8x8 integrates well — though most useful integrations require X2+ or higher tiers.

Where Monolith wins

Native trades CRM integration, not Zapier

8x8 has no native ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, or Jobber integration — connections to trades CRMs route through Zapier or middleware. Monolith Connect is part of the same platform as Monolith CRM. Calls and texts auto-log to the right customer record without any integration to maintain.

Transparent published pricing

8x8 stopped publishing pricing on its own website years ago. Every prospect has to go through a sales call to find out what the platform costs. For an SMB trades operator who just wants to know the price, that's friction. Monolith Connect publishes pricing openly.

SMS without a 50-message-per-license pool

8x8 transitioned SMS/MMS to usage-based billing in 2024-2025 with a small pooled allowance of 50 messages per X2+ license per month. For a trades business doing appointment confirmations, on-the-way texts, and post-job follow-ups, that runs out fast. Monolith Connect is priced for trades volume.

WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger included in the platform

8x8 keeps WhatsApp Business, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram DMs inside 8x8 Engage or 8x8 Contact Center (X7+) — separately licensed products that add significant per-user cost. Monolith Connect supports WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger as native channels alongside SMS and voice in the same conversation thread.

AI receptionist that books into your dispatch board

8x8 Frontdesk is an AI-assisted receptionist tool, but it is built around enterprise reception desk workflows — not booking field service jobs into a dispatch calendar. Trades-style booking depends on third-party services calling into 8x8. Monolith's AI receptionist books straight into the dispatch board with the right tech for the job, in the right window, in the right territory.

AI conversation intelligence in the platform

8x8 Engage's AI summaries, call insights, and meeting translation are real, but full sentiment and speech analytics live in X8 (the top Contact Center tier reportedly $130-$150/user/month). Monolith ships AI capabilities across the platform — Moli surfaces customer context, summarizes conversations, drafts follow-ups, and writes automations.

Skill-based routing without a Contact Center license

True skill-based routing in 8x8 requires X6 or above (8x8 Contact Center). Monolith Connect routes calls and messages based on technician skills, schedules, and availability without a separate CCaaS subscription.

Customer review collection built in

8x8 has no native review collection product. Monolith includes review collection, response workflows, and reputation tracking as part of the platform.

Native dispatch and field service integration

8x8 has no native dispatch board, no live customer tracking, and no trades-vertical features. Monolith Connect lives in the same platform as the dispatch board, work orders, and customer tracking portal.

Toll-free numbers without paid add-on per line

8x8 charges separately for every toll-free number on top of the base license. Monolith Connect handles toll-free numbers as part of the standard product.

Call recording storage without paid add-ons

8x8 includes call recording with 30-day hot storage on X1/X2 and 130-day on X3+; cold storage and longer retention is always a paid add-on. Monolith Connect handles recording storage for trades use cases as part of the platform.

Pricing

8x8 stopped publishing pricing on its own website years ago — every plan price is quote-only, behind a sales call. Third-party sources from 2025-2026 report annual-billing pricing approximately as: X1 around $10-$14/user/month (very limited, no SMS/queues/integrations), X2 around $24, X4 around $44 (these are 8x8 Work UCaaS tiers), X6 around $60-$85 (Contact Center voice), X7 around $110-$115 (Contact Center omnichannel including WhatsApp/Messenger), X8 around $130-$150 (top Contact Center tier with quality management and speech analytics). Toll-free numbers, additional local numbers, cold storage retention, outbound SMS volume above the 50/license pool, ICA, Frontdesk, Engage, and CPaaS API usage are all add-ons. International calling outside the included country list (14 on X2, 48 on X4) is metered. Monolith Connect is part of the Monolith Platform — a separately subscribed product alongside Monolith CRM with native trades CRM integration, AI receptionist that books into the dispatch board, transparent pricing, and the channels customers actually message you on. Beta pricing is being finalized with customers and will be published openly before any billing begins.
