Monolith Connect vs Ooma Office

Monolith Connect vs Ooma Office

Ooma Office is a budget-friendly business VoIP starting at $19.95 per user per month — cheaper than most enterprise UCaaS and friendly for very small operations. The catch is what 'budget' actually buys. The Essentials tier has no SMS, no call recording, no voicemail transcription, no video meetings, no desktop app, and no CRM integration. To get a feature set comparable to most modern business phone systems you need Pro Plus at $29.95 — and even there, Ooma has no native ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro integration, no WhatsApp, no Facebook Messenger, and AI consists only of call transcription. Monolith Connect is built for trades from day one with native CRM integration, AI receptionist, and the operational depth a service business actually uses.

Where Ooma Office wins

Genuinely affordable entry pricing

At $19.95/user/month, Ooma Essentials is among the cheapest business VoIP options available. For a one-person shop that needs a phone number and basic call routing and nothing more, Ooma can work — and the published pricing is straightforward.

Easy setup and no contract

Ooma Office has no annual contract requirement and is designed to be operational quickly. Free number porting, simple plug-and-play hardware options, and a customer base of small operators with positive setup-experience reviews.

Multi-site support included

Multi-site capability is included across Ooma Office tiers — useful for a small business with two or three locations that wants centralized phone management without enterprise pricing.

Video conferencing on Pro and Pro Plus

Pro includes video meetings up to 25 participants, Pro Plus up to 100 participants with recording and whiteboard. Monolith Connect does not include video conferencing.

Where Monolith wins

Real CRM integration for trades, not just Jobber

Ooma's CRM integration list (Pro Plus only, $29.95/user/month) covers Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, and Jobber — but no ServiceTitan, no Housecall Pro, no native field-service dispatch integration of any kind. Monolith Connect is part of the same platform as Monolith CRM. Calls and texts auto-log to the right customer record, the dispatch board sees the call, and the work order knows about the conversation.

Features that work on every plan, not gated to Pro Plus

Ooma withholds basic features behind tiers — Essentials has no call recording, no voicemail transcription, no video, no SMS, no desktop app, no CRM integration. Pro is required for SMS at all, and even then capped at 250 messages per month. Monolith Connect ships those features as part of the platform, not as upsell levers.

AI receptionist that books jobs

Ooma has no AI receptionist. Their public roadmap mentions one but it is not generally available. Monolith's AI receptionist answers inbound calls, books appointments straight into the dispatch board with the right technician for the job, and handles the calls Ooma's auto-attendant just routes to voicemail.

WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger included

Ooma has no WhatsApp Business or Facebook Messenger integration on any tier. Monolith Connect supports WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger as native channels alongside SMS and voice — your customer can reach you on whichever channel they prefer.

Toll-free SMS that actually works

Ooma explicitly does not support sending or receiving SMS on toll-free numbers — a hard limitation for trades businesses that use a single toll-free number for both calls and text confirmations. Monolith Connect handles SMS on local and toll-free numbers.

No tier-gated CRM access

Ooma gates CRM integration entirely to Pro Plus — Essentials and Pro customers cannot integrate with any CRM. Monolith Connect is part of your CRM, not bolted on as a higher-tier feature.

AI that goes beyond transcription

Ooma's only AI feature is AI Transcriptions on Pro Plus. No sentiment, no agent assist, no AI receptionist, no AI-driven call routing. Monolith ships AI capabilities across the platform — Moli surfaces customer context during calls, summarizes conversations, drafts follow-ups, and writes automations.

Customer review collection built in

Ooma has no native review collection product. Monolith includes review collection, response workflows, and reputation tracking as part of the platform.

Native dispatch and field service integration

Ooma has no native dispatch board, no live customer tracking, and no integration with trades CRMs beyond a basic Jobber connector on Pro Plus. Monolith Connect lives inside the same platform as the dispatch board, work orders, and customer tracking portal.

HIPAA without disabling SMS

Ooma's HIPAA Mode (Pro tier) disables SMS when enabled — a forced trade-off between compliance and texting. Monolith handles compliance and messaging without making customers choose between them.

Pricing

Ooma Office publishes three tiers: Essentials ($19.95/user/month), Pro ($24.95), Pro Plus ($29.95). Essentials has no SMS, no call recording, no voicemail transcription, no video, no desktop app, and no CRM integration — meaningful capabilities all start at Pro or Pro Plus. CRM integration (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Jobber) is exclusively a Pro Plus feature; ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro are not supported on any tier. AI is limited to AI Transcriptions on Pro Plus — no AI receptionist, no sentiment analysis, no agent assist. Webhooks and a published API are gated to Ooma Enterprise (a separate product line with annual contract pricing). Toll-free SMS is not supported on any tier. Monolith Connect is part of the Monolith Platform — a separately subscribed product alongside Monolith CRM with native integration, AI included, and predictable pricing aimed at trades businesses. Beta pricing is being finalized with customers and will be published openly before any billing begins.
