Monolith Connect vs Quo

Monolith Connect vs Quo (formerly OpenPhone)

Quo (renamed from OpenPhone in September 2025) is one of the better-designed small-business VoIP products on the market — clean UX, shared phone numbers across teams, the Sona AI voice agent included with credits, and native Jobber integration. For a small operator who just needs a polished phone product, it's a credible choice. The catches for trades businesses are meaningful: no native ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro integration (only Zapier), no WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, no video conferencing, no team chat as a standalone product, and — most surprising — no 911 emergency calling at all. Quo's own documentation tells you to keep a separate phone line for emergencies. Monolith Connect is built for trades from day one with native CRM integration, AI receptionist that books into your dispatch board, and the basics like emergency calling that a real business phone needs.

Where Quo wins

Modern, polished product UX

Quo (and OpenPhone before the rename) is widely praised for product design — the shared inbox, internal threads next to customer conversations, and overall ergonomics are noticeably cleaner than legacy UCaaS. For a team that values modern UX and is willing to live within Quo's feature scope, that polish is real.

Affordable pricing for the small-business sweet spot

Plans run $15-$35/user/month annual ($19-$47 monthly). Unlimited US/Canada calling and SMS are included on every tier, with shared numbers and basic Sona AI included even on Starter. For a one-to-five-person team, the entry price is genuinely competitive.

Shared phone numbers across teammates

Multiple users can share a phone number with a unified inbox, internal mentions, and visibility into who picked up what. For a small team where everyone might pick up the office line, this is a genuinely useful primitive that not every competitor handles cleanly.

Sona AI receptionist included

Sona is Quo's AI voice agent — answers calls 24/7, qualifies leads, routes by question, and is included with 1,000 free credits per month on Starter (paid credit packs $25-$199/mo for higher volume). This is a real product, not a roadmap promise.

SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA-compliant

Quo holds SOC 2 Type II certification and is HIPAA-compliant with a BAA available — the security posture you need for regulated industries.

Where Monolith wins

Actual 911 emergency calling

Quo numbers do not support 911 or 112 calling. Quo's own guidance tells customers to keep a separate mobile or landline for emergencies — meaning your business phone cannot dial emergency services. For a trades business with techs and office staff who might need to call 911 from a work phone, this is a hard requirement Quo cannot meet. Monolith Connect supports E911 emergency calling.

Native trades CRM integration beyond Jobber

Quo has a native Jobber integration — strong for Jobber customers. But there is no native ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, FieldEdge, or other trades CRM integration. Anything else routes through Zapier. Monolith Connect is part of Monolith Platform — calls and texts auto-log to the right customer record without any integration to maintain.

WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger included

Quo has no WhatsApp Business and no Facebook Messenger integration. Customers reaching you on those channels go to whoever happens to manage the account. Monolith Connect supports WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger as native channels alongside SMS and voice.

AI receptionist that books into your dispatch board

Sona is a capable AI voice agent, but it cannot book into a trades dispatch board with technician availability, skills, drive time, and territory. It books based on what you configure in the call flow. Monolith's AI receptionist books straight into the dispatch board with full context — the right tech, in the right window, in the right territory.

IVR and call transfer on every plan

Quo gates phone menus (IVR), call transfers, auto call recording, custom ring orders, and group calling to Business tier ($23/user/month annual). Monolith Connect ships these as part of the platform.

AI call summaries on every call

Quo Starter only generates AI summaries and transcripts for calls Sona handled — not for human-answered calls. Full AI summaries on all calls require Business+. Monolith ships AI capabilities across the platform.

Customer review collection built in

Quo has no native review collection product. Monolith includes review collection, response workflows, and reputation tracking as part of the platform.

Native dispatch and field service integration

Quo has no native dispatch board, no live customer tracking, and no trades-vertical features beyond the Jobber integration. Monolith Connect lives in the same platform as the dispatch board, work orders, and customer tracking portal.

AI receptionist without metered credit packs

Quo's Sona is included with 1,000 free credits per month on Starter (roughly 10 calls), then paid credit packs $25-$199/month. For a trades business with serious inbound call volume, the credit model can compound quickly. Monolith's AI receptionist is part of the Connect product.

Webhooks beyond beta

Quo's webhooks are currently in beta. Monolith Connect provides production-grade webhooks across the platform.

Pricing

Quo (formerly OpenPhone) publishes three tiers: Starter ($15/user/month annual, $19 monthly), Business ($23/$33), Scale ($35/$47). Unlimited US/Canada calling and SMS, voicemail transcripts, basic Sona AI credits (1,000/month), and API access are included on every tier. Phone menus (IVR), call transfers, auto call recording, custom ring orders, full AI summaries on all calls, and HubSpot/Salesforce/Zoho integrations all require Business or Scale. Sona AI receptionist runs on a credit model — 1,000 free per month, paid packs $25-$199/month for higher volume (one call ≈ 100 credits). Extra phone numbers are $5/month each. International calling and SMS are usage-based add-ons. Crucially, Quo numbers do not support 911 or 112 emergency calling — Quo's own documentation directs customers to keep a separate phone line for emergencies. Monolith Connect is part of the Monolith Platform — a separately subscribed product alongside Monolith CRM with native trades CRM integration, AI receptionist that books into the dispatch board, and basics like E911 calling that a real business phone needs. Beta pricing is being finalized with customers and will be published openly before any billing begins.
