Monolith Connect vs RingCentral

Monolith Connect vs RingCentral

RingCentral is one of the most mature UCaaS platforms on the market — 99.999% SLA, deep enterprise compliance, global PSTN coverage, and a 500+ app gallery. As a horizontal business phone system, it's hard to beat. The catch for trades businesses is that RingCentral is not designed around your CRM. Calls and texts only auto-log to a customer record if you wire up a CRM connector (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho — gated to Advanced tier and above). The AI Receptionist books into Google Calendar, not a dispatch board. WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger require RingCX, a separate $65/agent/month contact center product. RingSense AI is another $60/user/month on top. Monolith Connect is built from day one to live inside your trades workflow — calls auto-log to the right customer record, the AI receptionist books straight into the dispatch board, and AI is part of the platform, not a $60 add-on.

Where RingCentral wins

99.999% financially-backed uptime SLA

RingCentral commits to a 99.999% uptime SLA — about 5 minutes of allowable downtime per year — backed by service credits. For a business that cannot afford to drop calls, that track record matters.

Enterprise-grade compliance certifications

HITRUST CSF Certified, SOC 2+, SOC 3, ISO 27001/27017/27018/22301, PCI DSS, HIPAA BAA available, RAY BAUM's Act Nomadic 911. If your business has regulatory requirements that need a specific certification, RingCentral has the catalog.

Global PSTN coverage

Local PSTN in 45 countries, virtual numbers in 99+ regions, toll-free presence in 100+ countries. If you have international customers or operations, RingCentral covers ground that purpose-built tools do not.

Video conferencing and team chat included

RingCentral Video (up to 200 participants on Ultra) and Glip team messaging are included in the same RingEX subscription as voice. If you want voice + video + internal chat in one product, RingCentral covers it.

Mature CRM integration ecosystem

Native deep integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Zendesk, and 500+ apps via the App Gallery. If your business already runs on one of those CRMs, RingCentral integrates well — though screen-pop and auto-log require the Advanced tier.

Where Monolith wins

Native to your CRM, not bolted on

RingCentral routes calls and texts to a separate UCaaS account. To get calls and texts logged on customer records, you wire up a Salesforce, HubSpot, or Zoho connector — gated to Advanced tier ($25/user/month and up) and configured per integration. Monolith Connect is part of the same platform as your CRM. Every call rings into the same record your work order is on. No connector, no configuration, no missing data because someone forgot to install the screen-pop extension.

AI receptionist that books into your dispatch board

RingCentral's AI Receptionist is real and capable, but it books into Google Calendar or Outlook — not a field service dispatch board. It cannot account for technician skills, current availability, drive time, or absences when scheduling. Monolith's AI receptionist books straight into the dispatch board with full context: the right tech for the job, in the right window, in the right territory.

WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger included, not in a separate product

RingCentral keeps WhatsApp Business, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram DMs inside RingCX — their separate Contact Center product at $65 per agent per month on top of RingEX. Monolith Connect supports WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger as native channels alongside SMS and voice, no separate contact-center subscription required.

AI is part of the platform, not a $60/user/month add-on

RingSense AI — call summaries, transcription, sentiment, coaching — is a separately licensed add-on at $60 per user per month, roughly two to three times the cost of the base RingEX seat. Monolith ships AI capabilities as part of the platform, so your team doesn't choose between cost and call insight.

No SMS hard caps

RingCentral caps SMS at 25 messages per user per month on Core, 100 on Advanced, 200 on Ultra. Beyond that you buy a Business SMS Booster ($25/month) or pay $0.01 per message. For a trades business doing appointment confirmations, on-the-way texts, and post-job follow-ups, those caps go fast. Monolith Connect is priced for trades volume.

Customer review collection built in

RingCentral has no native review-request product. You'd add a separate tool to collect reviews. Monolith includes review collection, response workflows, and reputation tracking as part of the platform.

Native dispatch and field service integration

RingCentral has no native field service tooling. Integration with ServiceTitan and similar trades CRMs is third-party (Zapier, Gate6, or only inside the RingSense add-on). Monolith Connect is part of the same platform as Monolith CRM — the dispatch board, work orders, customer records, and calls all share the same data, no integration to maintain.

Skill-based routing without a Contact Center license

True skills-based routing in RingCentral is a RingCX feature ($65/agent/month). Monolith Connect routes calls and messages based on technician skills, schedules, and availability without a separate contact-center product.

No tier gating on automatic call recording

RingCentral's Core tier offers on-demand recording only — automatic call recording requires Advanced ($25/user/month). Monolith Connect records every call by default for the customer record without asking you to upgrade tiers.

Built for trades, not for horizontal UCaaS

RingCentral serves law firms, healthcare practices, retail, finance, and everything in between. Monolith Connect serves trades — every feature is shaped around the workflow of dispatching technicians, talking to customers, and capturing the conversation on the right job record.

Pricing

RingCentral RingEX publishes three tiers: Core ($20/user/month annual), Advanced ($25/user/month), Ultra ($35/user/month). Real CRM integration (auto-log to Salesforce/HubSpot/Zoho), automatic call recording, and advanced call handling start at Advanced. AI features require add-ons: RingSense AI is $60/user/month, AI Receptionist starts around $39/month and up. WhatsApp Business, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram DMs are only available in RingCX (their separate Contact Center product) at $65/agent/month on top of a RingEX seat. SMS is hard-capped per tier (25/100/200 messages per user per month) — beyond the cap requires a Business SMS Booster ($25) or $0.01/message. A trades business wanting CRM integration + AI + WhatsApp on RingCentral typically lands at $25 (Advanced) + $60 (RingSense) + $65 (RingCX) = $150/user/month before any third-party CRM connector cost. Monolith Connect is part of the Monolith Platform — a separately subscribed product alongside Monolith CRM, with predictable pricing aimed at trades businesses, AI included in the platform, and native integration with the dispatch board, customer records, and review collection. Beta pricing is being finalized with customers and will be published openly before any billing begins.
