Monolith CRM vs Salesforce

Monolith CRM vs Salesforce

Salesforce is the most powerful customization platform on the market. With enough budget, admin time, and AppExchange apps, you can configure it into almost anything — including a trades CRM. The question is whether you should. Field technician seats start around $175/user/month on Field Service Technician alone, but the real cost shows up in your office. Dispatchers and ops managers need Field Service Plus; CSRs, sales, and accounting need Service Cloud — and both office buckets pile on Service Cloud Voice, Digital Engagement, Agentforce, Data Cloud, plus AppExchange apps for canvassing, job costing, document generation, e-signatures, and reviews. Office seats land many hundreds of dollars per user per month. Monolith is built for trades from day one with one platform for every user role.

Where Salesforce wins

The most powerful customization platform on the market

Custom objects, Flow Builder, Apex code, the Salesforce Lightning Platform — nothing else lets you build the data model and workflow you can imagine the way Salesforce does. If your business genuinely needs the depth of customization Salesforce provides and you have the in-house admin or developer expertise to use it, no other platform competes.

Massive AppExchange ecosystem

Thousands of pre-built apps cover almost every gap — payroll, accounting, GIS, ERP, vertical modules, niche tools. If you can name a need, there is probably a Salesforce app for it.

Enterprise-grade security, compliance, and scale

Salesforce serves Fortune 500 companies and meets the strictest enterprise compliance requirements. If your business has regulatory demands (HIPAA, FedRAMP, etc.) or operates at a scale where uptime and audit trail standards drive software selection, Salesforce has the certifications to match.

Best-in-class reporting and analytics

Salesforce Reports + Dashboards, plus the Tableau acquisition and Data Cloud, make it the analytics platform of record for sales and service organizations. If reporting and BI are central to your operation, this is genuine depth.

SLA entitlements with milestones

Service Cloud Entitlements + Entitlement Processes + Milestones is a mature, native SLA tracking engine with first-response, resolution, and time-to-update tracking, and configurable workflow on warning/violation/completion. This is genuinely strong.

Where Monolith wins

Built for trades, not configured for trades

Salesforce Field Service is a horizontal product with generic Work Order, Asset, and Service Resource objects. There is no built-in HVAC equipment catalog, plumbing inspection workflows, electrical permit tracking, or trade-specific pricebook content. Monolith ships purpose-built modules for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other trades — the right fields, workflows, and data structures are wired in when you start, not after a six-month implementation project.

Predictable pricing across every user role

Salesforce forces you to slice every user into a license bucket. Field technicians need Field Service Technician (~$175/user/month). Dispatchers and ops managers who need field service access need Field Service Plus plus Service Cloud Voice + Digital Engagement + Agentforce + Data Cloud. CSRs, sales staff, and accounting who do not need field ops can run on Service Cloud + the same add-on stack. Each office bucket lands many hundreds of dollars per user per month before AppExchange apps for job costing, document generation, e-signatures, reviews, and canvassing. Monolith does not make you triage your team into three license tiers — one platform, predictable pricing, everyone on the same customer record.

No army of admins or consultants required

Salesforce is famously powerful and famously complex. A trades-ready Salesforce deployment typically involves a 6–12 month implementation, a dedicated admin or consulting partner, and ongoing configuration work. Monolith is built to be operational in days, not quarters, with workflows that don't require certification to configure.

Native trades features instead of AppExchange dependencies

On Salesforce, basic trades capabilities require third-party add-ons: SalesRabbit or Spotio for D2D canvassing, Conga or DocuSign Gen for document generation, DocuSign for e-signatures, Trustpilot for reviews, ServiceMax for deeper asset management, Ascent ERP for purchase orders. Each is a separate license. Monolith includes all of this natively.

Built-in business phone and SMS without consumption pricing

Salesforce Service Cloud Voice runs $50–200/user/month plus Amazon Connect minutes. Digital Engagement adds $75/user/month plus per-message charges (especially for WhatsApp, which moved to per-message pricing in mid-2025). Monolith Connect is a separate subscription with predictable pricing and includes SMS, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger as native channels — no per-message metering for routine customer conversation.

D2D canvassing built in, not via SalesRabbit

Salesforce has no native door-to-door canvassing — knock tracking, territory drawing, and door dispositions all require SalesRabbit, Spotio, or similar AppExchange apps. Monolith includes a full canvassing suite for trades sales teams: territory assignment, knock tracking, lead capture, route optimization, all integrated with the same CRM your office runs on.

AI receptionist as a turnkey product

Salesforce Service Cloud Voice + Agentforce can be assembled into AI-assisted call handling, but a fully autonomous inbound AI receptionist is not a turnkey SKU — it requires significant configuration plus telephony costs plus Agentforce licensing. Monolith's AI receptionist is built into the platform.

Plain-language automation, not Flow Builder

Salesforce Flow is powerful but visual-builder-based — and authoring complex flows generally requires admin training. Moli accepts plain-language descriptions and builds the automation for you, so business users can configure workflows without certification.

Native document generation with photos

Salesforce has no general-purpose native document generation — customers add Conga ($30–50/user/month), Docusign Gen, Nintex DocGen, or similar. Monolith Docs generates inspection reports with embedded photos, contracts, change orders, and any custom document directly from CRM-linked templates with PDF output.

Native e-signatures, not a DocuSign subscription

Salesforce has no native e-signature product — customers add Docusign for Salesforce as a separate subscription. Monolith provides legally compliant e-signatures with audit trail, tamper-evident records, and signer verification built into the platform.

Customer review collection without a Trustpilot subscription

Salesforce has no native review collection — Trustpilot Reviews for Salesforce starts at $300/month plus a Trustpilot subscription. Monolith includes review collection, response workflows, and reputation tracking as part of the platform.

Job costing without a custom build or AppExchange ERP

Salesforce Field Service tracks work orders, parts consumed, and labor time, but rolling those into a profit/loss view per job is not out of the box. Monolith ships native job costing with profitability rollups across labor, materials, and revenue.

Photo capture with watermarking and GPS overlay built in

Salesforce Field Service captures photos but watermarking and GPS-stamping are not advertised as out-of-the-box defaults. Monolith watermarks every captured photo with date, GPS coordinates, and company branding natively.

Pricing

Salesforce publishes pricing per user per month, per cloud — and a real trades deployment ends up with at least three license buckets. Field technicians can run on Field Service Technician alone (~$175/user/month). Dispatchers and ops managers who need field service access need Field Service Plus plus the add-on stack. CSRs, sales staff, and accounting who do not need field ops can run on Service Cloud plus the same add-on stack. Across both office buckets the add-ons are the same: Service Cloud Voice ($75-$200/user/month + Amazon Connect minutes), Digital Engagement ($75/user/month + per-message charges), Agentforce ($125/user/month), and Data Cloud. Office seats land in the several-hundred-dollar-per-month range, with exact pricing varying by edition and negotiation. AppExchange apps for job costing, document generation, e-signatures, reviews, and canvassing add further per-user cost. Service Cloud Voice and WhatsApp messaging carry per-minute and per-message consumption charges on top of seat pricing. Annual contracts are required for Enterprise tier and above. Implementation typically requires a Salesforce consulting partner. Monolith starts with a deliberately lean and affordable CRM core, with modules, Connect, and Docs as separately subscribed products billed together — every user is on one platform, no triage into license tiers, no per-message metering for routine customer conversations, no AppExchange dependency for core trades workflows. Beta pricing is being finalized with customers and will be published openly before any billing begins.
